CLAIM MANAGEMENT & PROCESSING

Product liability and mass tort concerns often result in hundreds of thousands of claims. ARPC consultants have significant experience with assisting clients in every aspect of claims processing from process design to systems development and specialized processing. We participate in designing the start-up and management of on-going operations for corporations that want to process claims “in-house” as well as for trusts. We have developed policies and procedures for processing claims and assist in the formulation of claim protocols to reflect settlement requirements. We assist with the transfer and quality control of claim data, design and development of information systems, conceptualization and implementation of workflow procedures, and ensure effective quality control checks throughout the claim process. Our consultants have experience with every aspect of the claim processing cycle from the smallest of company defendants to large centralized entities. Our clients in this area include such organizations as the Center for Claims Resolution, Breast Implant Claims Facility, most of the large asbestos trusts, the AHP Settlement Trust (Fen-Phen) and many others. ARPC’s technology practice has designed, developed and implemented fully integrated computer systems addressing each of the requisite steps in the claims resolution process. We can assist clients with general consulting and oversight of the entire processing operation. Our greatest value to our clients is helping them avoid costly mistakes by utilizing the collective knowledge and experiences of our consultants.

Our claims management & processing services primarily focus in the following areas:

Some of our representative engagements include:

(1) We have been retained by the AHP Settlement Trust (Fen-Phen) to help design and implement a processing regime aimed at managing thousands of diet drug claims. Activities included the development of operational plans, forecasts of the assets, liabilities and cash flows of the trust and identification, negotiation, and development of contracts with outside service providers. We maintain responsibility for payment of claims and reporting to the trust.

(2) Seven of the existing asbestos personal injury trusts have retained ARPC to assist them with a variety of issues relating to claims processing. We have been retained to design, develop and implement a state-of-the-art, web-based claims-processing system for asbestos personal injury claims. These systems enable law firms and pro se claimants to submit and modify claims online and track the status of their claims through the evaluation process from submittal to payment.
